Your Cheek Implant Process
Preparing to Receive Implants
Dr. Clemenza will review your medical history and consult with you regarding your goals for the procedure and results. His understanding of facial anatomy as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon allows him to plan and perform cheek implant placement to encourage desirable results. You may be able to see a 3D rendering of how implants may change the shape of your cheeks and affect your overall appearance. You may also wish to start with temporary fillers to get a better idea of how you will look, then move on to more permanent implants.
The Surgery
You will be given IV sedation before surgery to keep you comfortable during the procedure. A small incision will be made above your upper teeth to expose your cheekbone region. Dr. Clemenza will then precisely fit the silicone implant over your cheek area, providing increased fullness and a more appealing contour. Sutures or skin adhesives will be used to close the incision and hold the implant in place.
Recovery Phase
A dressing will be placed after surgery to cover any incision and support your cheeks as they heal. You should apply ice to your cheeks and keep your head elevated for the first few days to help alleviate any swelling or discomfort. It can take up to two weeks for swelling to resolve and the results of your cheek augmentation to take shape.
